BE HONEST!
I know that I prefer my books to have domineering tyrants that pound their chest and yell "MINE" at the top of their lungs. I am simply curious if this is a popular opinion or if some women prefer well rounded hero's that are... well.. not alpha male. ;D
For my kindred spirits I recommend:
Night Huntress Series/Jeaniene Frost - Bones is hothothothot! Guild Hunter Series/Nalini Singh - Raphael is a GOD... no really... Immortals After Dark/Kresley Cole - I love her werewolves, and vampires, etc.
That is all for now.

I have to agree with your taste, there's just something about an, to use your phrase, Alpha Male that just makes my knees go weak lol. And thank you for those suggestions, I'm going to have to check them out!

First, I must commend you on your Book/Author recommendations, Seanna. Brilliant! You have received your first Karma in the triple exaltation you so richly deserve ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) Recently started reading the Psy-changeling series by Nalini Singh. (only read book one so far but loving the story and the concept. Oh, and did I mention the Alpha males? Lol Generally the Alpha guys are my preference too, especially when they are flawed / wounded on some level and a tad chauvinistic. (Yeah okay, the woman’s lib movement would have tarred and feathered me for that, or locked me in a kitchen while chanting ‘serves you right!’.) But, and this is a big one, I like them to be balanced with a strong female who won’t take their shit, and can live just fine without them even though it might hurt. There have been one or two well rounded heroes I’ve enjoyed and I’m really trying to recall who they are… to no avail. Some books I’d recommend off the top of my head spanning over a few categories: Shadow Hawk, Jill Shalvis. - Great sex scenes, nice writing style + wit) Exit to Eden, Anne Rice. (written as Anne Rampling) - Read many years ago. It was my first time reading a book about bondage and dominance. Many books by Judith Krantz – Princess Daisy was my first and I got caught reading it in home economics class (seriously. I was scared shitless that my teacher would call my dad—who would so not have approved—but she didn’t and I managed to swipe it off her desk after class. And well, I did enjoy Pride & Prejudice, Jane Austen - Totally zero sex, oh so outdated (as expected) and a little annoying at times but still a favourite.

I just finished book three in the psy/changeling series, so far so good. Oddly enough my favorite male so far was a psy. I KNOW! They start to get a little harder to get through like so many other series I've started lately, but still good. I have read Pride and Prejudice too many times to count, Wuthering Heights, Little Women, Jane Eyre is a personal favorite (possibly part of the allure was the unattractiveness of all of the characters. Very different.) Tess of D'Urberville was my latest venture into classic literature (thank you Fifty Shades, LOL) It was AWFUL! Not even the story was a saving grace.
I read part of Exit to Eden when I was too young to understand what the heck was going on. I think it deserves a do over, heehee. I totally recommend Immortals after dark for ANYONE, I started with Pleasure if a Dark Prince... hothothothot!!! I was a Valkyrie Huntress for the entirety of that book (in my head anyway!!!) Wanna talk about sweetness underneath a rough exterior? That is this werewolf in a nutshell, he is still a favorite after all these years.
Oooooooh!!!! I want a No-No!
What was I... oh yeah! Since then Ive read every IAD book and am anxiously awaiting the next one about another werewolf related to Garreth (the dark prince), Yay!
P.S. I often get distracted by commercials and continue typing. The no-no really does look awesome, hahahahahaha!

LOL No-No was indeed very confusing but awesome nonetheless. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) I'm in total agreement. Tess of D'Urberville was my least fave 1800's read. In fact I was almost glad Tess dies because she has become so painfully broken by the end. Also really disliked Angel. I found him week and stupid. So not an Alpha LOL Jane Ayre is right up there with Pride and Prejudice. In fact it was a much deeper story and I loved the mystery of Rochester's first wife wreaking havoc in Thornfield. Also the ending was very sweet. Oooh! IAD is going onto my read list!

I am currently finishing book 6 in the Psy changeling series. TOTALLY worth the read!!! The story is starting to pick up in a big way, and the characters are just phenomenal! I tend to read at the speed of light when I'm interested, so it should say something that I was only finished with book two a week ago, Lol!

I've just finished book 5. Loving how the story is growing. Can't wait to read the next one. Also like that regular humans and the forgotten have come into play. Must admit. Nalini Singh has one hell of an imagination. Will work my way through all the books I'm sure. Thanks so much for bringing her to my attention. I exalt you! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

Ultimate Alpha book, I just read Kiss of Snow! I think its book 10 in the psy changeling series by Nalini Singh... Fricken WOW! Hawks is actually an Alpha, no really! I swear to goodness that man was ridiculous with his alpha male-ness (yes, like my husband! So?)
Just a little example: He finds out his woman is at a bar with someone else (not her fault I would have done the same thing he was being a Dick), so he shows up at the bar after her friend kisses her to leave his scent on her (knowing full well its gonna piss him off). As soon as he walks in the entire bar goes silentand he walks up to the bar and politely ask her if she wants to leave on her own two feet or over his shoulder. She wisely chooses to walk out with him. Upon arriving at the vehicle he asks her why she smells like someone else and when she gives him a smart ass answer .... he bites her! Out of the blue, for no other reason than to mark her as his. I laughed so hard because my husband did something similar to me when I was 18, kinda stupid and trying to make him jealous. I didn't realise it was something other people did. I just thought my boyfriend was crazy! Lol!!!

Gotta have an Alpha! There's nothing hotter than a man wrapping his hand around your neck, grabbing a fist full of your hair and declaring "Mine." That one word is a panty melter every time.
I've said it on another post but Kristen Ashley KNOWS how to write an alpha male. Her Mystery Man (Hawk's a hottie) and Motorcycle Man (Tack makes me wanna hit a biker bar) are my 2 favorites.

LOL Yep I had the same reaction to reading that scene and then I laughed some more when he washed Kit's scent off her lips.

Have you read the Masters at Arms series by Kallypso Masters yet? At the moment there are only 4 books out the next is still TBA. This is a series you have to read in order just like FH. But i prefer this kinda series...I think I am just glutton for punishment while waiting for the next book!! lol Adam with his 'I'm not able to love' but needs help to see it. He is my favorite of the boys. Marc with his fear of commitment and past guilts. Damian with his self perception and survivor guilt. The three of them open and own a BDSM club and find the control they desire and the unconditional companionship they need. All Broken men but together they are able to be strong and sexy as hell Doms. Karla is my Favorite Gal she is soo strong yet has that vulnerability that makes her loveable. Angelina is a good one but not really high on my list in this series. Savannah is the strongest of the 3, but also the most screwed up. She is the one I hold in high esteem. They are all broken in ways. These gals find strength and power thru their submission. Maybe this series is something you might enjoy because we have strong sexy Doms and the sex is pretty good as well. It is the stories of these people that really rock my boat! And yes Alphas are the way to go!!

Ohhh Kallypso Masters is awesome. And do I ever love me an alpha... Hence why I am rereading all of Lorelei James' Rough Riders series ATM. They are cowboy but damn. Yum.
Another to try is Jayne Rylon - particularly Night is Darkest and Razor's Edge oooo and Master's Mistress. When I look at my Kindle library there are so many. Hmm a shrink would probably have a great time there :-)
I also agree that the best chemistry happens with a strong female. Otherwise I feel like slapping them and sending them out to get a life!!
And just to throw this in- a sweet and so utterly beautiful story. Ok maybe that isn't quite right but the connection is amazing - check out Chelsea Fine's Sophie and Carter. I am in love. (YA so not erotic story but love it anyway - and her Awry series too - YA paranormal and interesting for something different and a bit fun)
Happy reading ladies :-) (I assume so don't get cranky if you're not a lady pls...)

Have you read the Down & Dirty trilogy by Moira Rogers? Definately got your wild west feel but its set actually in the future after a nasty war that killed most humans and the werewolves were unscathed. Also the Heart of the West books by Ann Jacobs have the cowboys (more in the here an now and present day). Roped. Hitched and Lassoed are really good ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I have several of the Rough Rider books and just LOVE them as well.
