So! Since this is an author's website you all have probably gathered that I read... a lot. I tend to read more lately because my body is falling apart and I'm in constant pain, what better medicine than escaping to an alternate reality, right? I thought it would be a good idea for all of us to share book reviews for books that we have recently read so we can take eachother's advice or add our own opinion... kinda like a book club!!! ;D
I kinda started the ball rolling in recommended books thread, but I will add a couple more recent reviews for books I have read. Hope lots of us participate! This could be fun!

Book: Once a Princess by Johanna Lindsey Genre: Stupid Romance Rating: ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) **** Sex: ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) **** disappointing I have read a lot of Johanna Lindsey and was sorely disappointed with this one. I had no love for the characters, no interest in the story after her second escape attempt, and no respect for the unrealistic self esteem issues of a KING for goodness sake! If the main female could have been honest about ANYTHING even ONCE through the course of this ridiculousness I might have cared even a little if she lived or died, much less got her HEA... which I'm still fairly sure she didn't deserve. The "twist" at the end was so stupid I rolled my eyes so hard I HEARD it! I feel it could have been enjoyable if I had a higher tolerance for stupid people, but I do not, so it wasn't.

Book: Unenchanted by Chanda Hahn Genre: Fantasy Rating: ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) * Sex: ***** Nonexistent I ordered this book after making a deal with my friend that we would read it together. I did not have high hopes and when I found out it was self published and the characters were in high school, I counted to 10 and promptly told her she was fired! Fastforward to the next day (i.e. right now) and I have sent an apology text and have already ordered the second book. I was a little irritated with some of the language used, it was a little unrealistic. I also thought it dragged quite a bit in the middle, I have rated this book higher because, in all fairness, I WAS looking for the Grimm tales the whole time and getting annoyed not finding a lot. So I can attribute some of the "drag" to my own expectations and not the actual writing. Once I reached the end I was enthralled (better than the corny pun of using enchanted, right???) I was in love with the characters, drawn into the story, and chomping at the bit to read the next one.

Book: Maid For Love by Marie Force Genre: Contemporary Romance Rating: ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) ** Sex: ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) *** Acceptable but not mindblowing This was a sweet story. That's just it... it was sweet, adorable, and oh-so-romantic. Notice I left out realistic and sexy? This book has the cliche "collision style" meeting, and takes place over the course of three weeks (with the couple being engaged after 6 days). Does it sound like I'm talking crap?... I'm not, I actually enjoyed it! Its kinda nice to think its possible to have a happily ever after in your future after you've known someone 6 days. I also wound up laughing my butt off at an argument between the man and his sister... you'll know which part if you read it, lol. Over all I liked it, it was a fun easy read.

Book: Feral Sins by Suzanne Wright Genre: Erotic Romance Rating: ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) ** Sex: ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) * Hard, Fast, and Often... ;D Hothothothothot! This book is going to be re-released soon with no group sex... whatever. The sense of humor of this author is AWESOME! I laughed so hard at certain points I almost peed (you're welcome for the over-share)! The story had me from the beginning, I was entranced by the immediate chemestry between the two main characters. It was ON FIIIIIIRE from the first meeting, no slow burn, no giving a crap about feelings or "right and wrong" just an instant fricken inferno that drew me in and honestly made me a teensy weensy bit jealous! Fair warning the sex is forceful and there is a lot of "Mine!" And "Who do you belong to?" But it is ALL consentual and... well... hot. The main characters are entertaining as heck, and the action really draws you in. The reason for the lowered rating is simple. There are a LOT of spelling and grammatical errors. Once its re-released the errors will have been professionally corrected but the group sex will be gone, so TAKE THAT the man! Lol. I wont be part of your SYSTEM!!! P.S. It would be appreciated if when I write the word fire with multiple I's you could pronounce it as follows: FIE-yer. It would also be cool if you could stretch out each syllable and add a little swag so that the word is understood properly. It is after all the EPIC version of the word and I wouldn't want anyone to miss that. Thank you for your cooperation! ;D

Book: Megan's Mark by Lora Leigh Genre: Paranormal/Futuristic Romance Rating: ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) ** Sex: ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ** Hot & Dominant from about 50% For both rating and sex I would say it is closer to 2 1/2 smileys than 3. I could tell by the end of the prologue that I was joining this party when it was halfway over. This is actually book 8 in her breed series... my bad. The story was good, the characters were good, and the big bad was good (if a little anti-climactic). The added little twist of the main male having similar, a-HEM, anatomy of the lion he is cross bred with was... strange. In a good way, though. I always appreciate different! The truth is, I'm not sure I would remember this book after reading a couple more on my list. It was a good read but not memorable for me. I have been trying to start the next book in the series all day, but I'm considering just skipping it because it hasn't interested me.

Read anything by Elizabeth Hoyt. The Raven Prince is a good place to start, although Scandalous Desires is the hottest (however, no sex until pg 200ish!). If you like historical romance in novel length, these are delicious. The Raven Prince is worth the $3.99 on Amazon...

Book: Dangerous Lover by Lisa Marie Rice Genre: Contemporary (?) Romance Rating: ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) *** Sex: ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) *** Missionary's a favorite and oral can be boring??? I'm not going to lie, it was hard for me to get through this one. I almost skipped! I NEVER skip! The end was a HUGE disappointment, it was almost as if the author was in a hurry to finish. I found it odd that there was no closure since there was near constant conversations in their heads throughout the entire book. Not to mention the vacillating (don't even get me started on the vacillating)!!! He's scary, no hes not, he's familiar, no he's not, he's lying, no he's not! I was a little disappointed in this one. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

Book: Dark Prince by Christina Feehan Genre: Paranormal Romance Rating: ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) *** Sex: ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ** Pretty solid just didn't stray from any norms. I was really looking forward to this one because it had come highly recommended by lots of friends and casual acquaintances. I believe this series is VERY popular, I think this is worth noting since I rated it so low. It simply wasn't interesting enough to hold my interest. I am going to start another series by this author just to give it a fair chance, but the truth is I had a huge problem reading the whole thing. It seemed to repeat a lot of the same points over and over, the main female was kinda annoying, The main male was okay, and the author tends to have the characters say something in their language then repeat it in english... not realistic when everyone speaks the language... it drove me CRAZY!!! Not to mention all the corny ritual-speak, some people are into that... I'm not. NO JUDGEMENT! Just wasn't my thing.

Book: Here There be Monsters by Meljean Brook Genre: Steampunk Romance Rating: ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) * Sex: ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ** It was a short story... I don't expect miracles, lol. This is one of the short stories in the Burning Up compilation novel. I usually only get these compilations to read authors I'm interested in, weird I know. ;D So I read this one this time (the first time I borrowed it from my digital library was for the Nalini Singh story at the beginning, don't judge me!) I found the story was so interesting, loved the characters, even though it was a short story I was actually interested in everything going on. So my weakness has been uncovered! I'm think steampunk is just awesome, the style of dress is uber-sexy, and the futuristic technology is interesting. So I'm a geek. Atleast I have a great rack.

Book: Wicked Ties by Shayla Black Genre: Contemporary Romance/Erotica Rating: ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) * Sex: ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) * Hothothothothot! I need to start out by thanking whoever recommended Shayla Black on one of the other threads. I am 85% sure that I read that recommendation in this forum, but I couldn't find it and didn't look very hard. I enjoyed this book with the small exception of wanting to backhand the main female character, she got on my nerves because she felt guilty for wanting the things she did. Don't get me wrong, I get that, I'm just thankful I never had the time or energy to feel shameful for anything that my imagination cooks up, ya know? The story is great. The characters are great. The book was entertaining as all get out, and the sex strayed from the norm (always a plus in Seanna's Rule Book for Life). It is, however, very vanilla. If you are looking for BDSM look elsewhere, it was touched on but not really applied. Bondage and a couple spankings woes not BDSM make. Good book, though. P.S. DUDE!!! Did I mention that he's Cajun... and a Dom??? Ohhh-feakin-lala!!!

Book: Four Play by Maya Banks and Shayla Black Genre: Erotic Romance Rating: ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) * Sex: ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Now THATS what I'm talking about!!! This book is not for the faint of heart, or the conservative, or the monogamous, or the prude, but I digress. As a self proclaimed perv and sexual deviant I LOVED this book! I liked both stories, I liked both girls, and I liked both sets of guys! That NEVER happens! I liked both beginnings, I liked both HEAs, and I liked all the inventive sex in between. This one is definitely on my highly recommended list, which is nice since I didn't even know who Shayla Black was until someone in this forum recommended her. Once again I say thank you! ![:-*](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/kiss.png)

Book: A Demon and His Witch by Eve Langlais? Genre: Paranormal Romance/Comedy Rating: ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) * Sex: ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ** Pretty standard I found out about halfway through that I was supposed to read three books about the devils daughter first... my bad. It didn't really make a difference with how I felt about this book. I loved the humor and the ridiculousness of the entire concept of the entire book! It was BRILLIANT! The demon is a tool, and the witch is... a witch! They compliment eachother so well and I was giggling through the whole book! It was refreshing to read an author that doesn't take herself too seriously... or doesn't take anything seriously, really. I love to laugh so I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

Book: A Demon and His Psycho by Eve Langlais Genre: Paranormal Romance/Comedy Rating: ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) * Sex: ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ** Still pretty standard for a romance. It should say something that after the first book I immmediately had to read the second one. A tight-assed, broody, grumpy demon and a perky psycho with anger issues? Its like someone took my life and wrote it out, lol! I kid, but not really. You cant beat a book where the main characters first meeting conversation consists of "Weeeeeeeeeeeee! Catch me!" And "What the fuck???" I loved the story again and the constant giggling produced by an awesome sense of humor. I also like the fact that this particular demon slowly becomes as crazy as his psycho instead of the other way around. It was refreshing! Lol.
